Investor Communications - Best Practice
Considering Odin doesn’t actively communicate with your investors regarding the status of a deal or its timelines, and the fact they can only see their own commitments and transfers, and not those of other investors, it’s best practice to actively communicate with your investors on how the deal is progressing and when they can expect the deal to close.
You can either communicate with your investors through your own channels like Whatsapp and email, or communicate directly through Odin. On the deal page, you’ll have a button to email your investors, and you can choose whether this goes out to those who’ve already invested, or those who are yet to make payment.
Additionally, your investors will also be able to communicate with you directly through the platform. You’ll receive emails directly from Odin if your investors use this feature.
We recommend contacting your investors in bulk at the following junctures to ensure they do what’s required in a timely and correct manner.
- Invite to the deal
- Payment reminders
- Beginning of closing
- End of closing
- Investment updates
Odin will also send automated emails to your investors at certain milestones in their journey. You can view examples of these communications below:
Invite - the first email investors receive from Odin will invite them to your deal, including a call-to-action message to ‘Invest on Odin’. This automated email can also be re-sent.
Re-take Investor Assessment - If your investor fails their appropriateness assessment multiple times, Odin will lock their account for 24 hours. Once that period has elapsed, we’ll email them to inform them they can re-take the assessment, and will prompt them to log back into Odin.
Reminder to Commit - If an investor has accessed the deal invite and clicked ‘invest’ rather than ‘pass’, but hasn’t yet committed a specific amount to the deal, Odin will periodically remind them to commit to the deal for a set number of reminders.
Commitment Confirmation - Odin will send an email to confirm we’ve recorded the investor’s commitment to the deal. This will include a call to action to return to the platform and complete their investment.
Reminder to Pay - Similarly to the reminder to commit, if an investor has committed to your deal, but hasn’t yet transferred their funds, Odin will periodically remind them to commit.
Payment Completed - Once Odin has both received and reconciled the investor’s payment, they’ll receive an email notifying them of their successful payment. The next time they log in, this will also be reflected in the platform.
Deal Closed - The only other automated communication investors receive from Odin is confirmation the deal has closed. They’ll be prompted to log back into the platform to access their proof of investment documentation. This email is not sent when you press the ‘close my deal’ button in Odin, rather when the investee company has received funds from the SPV and our team have finally closed the deal.
