Creating your Odin account
Account creation is set out in five steps.

About you
This is where you set up your personal profile with a photo, your name, a custom URL for your profile and - if applicable - a link to your website.

Select ‘Invest in startups’.

Categorisation
As a regulated investment platform, Odin is required to ask you to certify the category of investor you are, prior to you being able to invest, based on definitions that are provided by the FCA. Investors will have to renew their self-certification statement once per year Please select the classification that applies to you, and if required provide a supporting answer.
Only Sophisticated Investors and High Net Worth Individuals can invest in deals on Odin:
- According to FCA and SEC regulations, you have to be a sophisticated investor to invest in alternative investments such as private deals, venture capital, angel syndicates, etc.
- An accredited or sophisticated investor has a strong understanding of the risks associated with alternative investments gained through experience in the sector and/or exceeds a specific net worth or income threshold depending on the regulation of the country they are resident of. If their investors do not meet these requirements, the Deal Lead may be legally liable.
- For the type of transactions investors on Odin are engaging in (private deals which aren’t marketed publicly), it is sufficient for the investors to confirm they are sophisticated via a checkbox or questionnaire.
- If neither of these definitions apply to you, you won’t be able to invest through Odin.
Sophisticated Investors - Before they can view a financial promotion on Odin, Sophisticated investors must self-certify that one of the following statements applies to them:
- You have been a director of a company turning over at least £1 million within the last two years.
- If selected, we’ll ask for the name of the company.
- You have made two or more investments in an unlisted company (this includes equity crowdfunding investments).
- If selected, we’ll ask you how many investments you’ve made into unlisted companies.
- You have been a member of a network or syndicate of business angels for at least six months.
- If selected, we’ll ask for the name of the network or syndicate.
- You have worked in the past two years in a professional capacity in the private equity sector or in the provision of finance for small and medium enterprises.
- If selected, we’ll ask for the name of the company or organisation.
High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) - Before they can view a financial promotion on Odin, High Net Worths must self-certify that one of the following statements applies to them:
- You have an annual income in excess of £100K, or;
- Have net assets of £250,000 or more (excluding your primary residence and pension entitlements).

Appropriateness assessment
As part of our regulatory requirements, all investors must complete our appropriateness assessment questionnaire to ensure their suitability to invest on Odin.
You will be presented with a set of five questions, and all must be answered correctly to pass. Please ensure you take your time with the questions, as three incorrect attempts will lead to permanent restriction from investing on Odin.

Final declaration
In the final step of setting up your account, you will be prompted to carefully review the investor terms and provide your signature to complete the process.
